Managing Anxiety By Listening To Your Body

Most people at some point in their lives have dealt with some kind of anxiety. It is normal to have anxiety once in awhile, but there are many people in the country that are dealing with degrees of anxiety that are more disorder like.

Managing anxiety is difficult to do when you try to do it on your own. There are millions of people estimated to have an anxiety disorder that aren’t getting help for it. The great news is that anxiety is one of the most treatable mental disorders.

Just by getting some help can greatly improve how you feel about yourself, being in social situations and work places. I have learned this for myself and people that I know who have anxiety disorders.

While managing anxiety, the best thing you can do, is to be prepared for an attack at any time. Of course there will be times when you don’t see a certain situation coming, but if you are able to understand the signs early, you have a better chance of not getting out of control.

You will want to listen to your body. This is one of the best ways to know if an attack is on its way. If you can calm yourself down before it gets out of hand will help you master a full-blown attack. Once you are able to control your situations little by little, you will have a greater sense of confidence.

When in the throws of a stressful situation, I have found it helpful to take deep breaths. This will help alleviate some of the tension you are feeling. Instead of thinking about the situation that is going on around you, focus on the ins and outs of your breathing. Think about your body parts that are moving to breathe. Just shifting your focus will help you out a lot.

There are other strategies for managing anxiety. I like using relaxation techniques. Finding something that helps you remove yourself mentally and emotionally from your situation will help. Sometimes it is even a good practice to let your mind drift into a neutral zone. This will help you handle irrational thoughts and feelings.
